CHAPTER FOURTEEN
It’s been thirty minutes, I think. Can’t really tell. There’s no clock. Just the melting of the candles. The increased itchiness of this woolen robe. And my thoughts making no sense.
Dwarves, elves, druids, humans in plate mail, wizards, magick. Brigg, Chopper, Justsomefoo, Rune. The names of our characters in Battlecry Online for god’s sake. What the fuck is going on. I have to be alseep. This has to be some wild, whacked out, result of a shit load of alcohol and drugs.
One time, when I was shrooming with, Xaiver and, Bob, we drove all the way to the hidden coves near San Bernadino and found a trail that lead to this one high cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean. We all decided to walk the trail that lead to the precipice so we could train in our own versions of kung fu. On the hike, I noticed in the bushes some movement. Upon closer inspection, I found a gnome riding a mouse like a mount, weilding a long stemmed rose as a lance. Yup. This has got to be like that. A massive hallucination induced by…
I hear heavy footsteps from the hallway. Getting closer. And a lot of them. They are talking to each other, what it is, I can’t make out. They get closer and closer. I grip the arms of the wooden chair I’ve been sitting on for the past thirty minutes.
The human in red, the one called, Rune, walks in first. Quickly followed by the others. As he briskly walks towards me, in a voice that shoots through the room, “You know a man by the name of, Xavier, don’t you, Corn?”
“Uh…yeah…” I stammer.
“Well, he is my familiar. And, unfortunaetly, he will be the death of The Three Worlds.” Rune says stopping in the middle of the room.
“See, buddy, we all got familiars.” Says the dwarf in the hood. “People in The Tertiary World that connect directly to us. Mine is your buddy, Oliver. As you guessed it, my name is, Fortyounce.”
“Tertiary World…?” I whisper. “Xavier…? Death of the worlds…?”
“Yes. You’re world. The one where you exist.” Plainly states, Justsomefoo. “It is the third world. You’re in The Second World right now. Where we live. The true world.”
“Let me explain as quickly and concisley as I can. We haven’t a moment to lose.” Says, Rune. “There are three worlds that exist in the universe. The first world, Godsplane, is where the gods reside. The heavens, the hells, angels, demons, all that, reside in Godsplane. The second world, Alzbaron, is where we mortals live. Dwarves, elves, gnomes, humans, orcs, trolls, etc. the third world, The Tertiary World, is where you live. A slow, mudane, lifeless place that only exists to supplant the other two worlds. Familiars such as yourselves were simply born to extend the lives of those who live in Alzbaron. All three worlds are connected, but independent from one another. If ever a time came when all three worlds coalesced, all that we know to exist, the universe, would cease and only oblivion would be. Your friend, Xavier plans on having all three worlds collide.”
I sit there shocked. Wondering why I haven’t woken up from this trippy ass dream.
“We need you to stop him.” States, Justsomefoo, almost choking me with his glowing yellow eyes.
“Xavier is trying to detroy the universe?” I ask, confused.
“Not on purpose.” Rune says. “But he has discovered the weak points in the boundaries of all three worlds. And he inteds to cross them.”
“Wait, wait, wait, wait one minute!” I say. “This is ridiculous! What are you guys talking about? WE’RE the made up ones? Us? On earth? In the real world? And you guys are the ones that imagined US?”
“Yes.” They all say, as if I were retarded.
I stand up. Woolen robe and all. “This is stupid. When the fuck am I going to wake up from this? WAKE UP, CORN! WAKE UP!!!!” I scream into the chamber.
“See? I told you guys.” Says, Chopper. “We should’ve used my familiar. He doesn’t even like, Xavier. He almost killed, Xavier!”
“Again, I must say, Chopper, the prophecy will only come to pass if violence is involved. We need one with a pure heart. Not an iron fist.” Says the human in plate mail, most likely, Karage, Jack’s paladin character.
“He doesn’t believe us.” says, Rune. “This leaves us with only one option. Brigg.”
Brigg picks up his big ass rifle and aims it at my head. “Sorry, mah boy. But we have to prove it to you.”
“Dude. You’re going to shoot me again?” I ask. “Go ahead. Maybe I’ll finally wake up form this weird ass dream.”
“we’ll be cutting it close, don’t you think?” says, Fortyounce.
“There’s no choice. He doesn’t believe.” says, Justsomefoo.
Brigg steadies his hand. Uses the his good eye to aim dead for my foehead.
“Hurry man!” I implore. “I got to piss.”
“Jest remember one thing, Corn.” Says, Brigg. “Everything, Xavier says is a lie. Everything he wants to do, is a falsehood. It might sound promising and forthright, but in the end, it will be the death of us all.”
“Only you can stop him, Corn.” says, Rune. “Only you can save the universe.”
“May the gods be with you.” prays, Karage.
“Yeah. Okay.” I say.
And I get a big dose of bullet to my forehead.

When I wake, the sun is up. Kind of looks like morning. Has that horizontal sunshine feel to it. Through the venetian blinds, strips of light stripe my entire room. The manga posters, the dirty clothes on the floor, the single matress sans frame, and the most awesome computer desk in the world. Battlecry Online is online, but not signed in yet.
What a fucking stupid dream…
Just then I hear a crash from the kitchen. Sounds like pots and pans falling on top of pots and pans. Then I hear a man’s voice cursing. Slurring. Picking up the pots and pans, getting agrny with them for being in his way and then slamming them back down on the floor to teach them a lesson.
My father just got home. He was out all night. Probably drinking. This is nothing new.
I go outside to do what I always do. Listen to him rant until he fals asleep.
